Listen to Obituary

William “Bill” Wayne Abbas, 83, passed away peacefully with family at his side at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls on April 27, 2026.

Uncle Bill, as he was affectionately known to many. He was born on September28, 1942, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Harvey and Mildred (Fisher) Abbas. He graduated from Aplington High School and later served in the Army Reserves. Uncle Bill also attended technical school in Cedar Falls, where he earned a degree in accounting. He spent his working career as a partner at Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co.

The quality most remember about Uncle Bill is his kind and thoughtful heart. He always checked in with family, making phone calls to see how everyone was doing, where the children were, and what sports they were playing. He read the newspaper to stay up to date on local school activities, always supporting his favorite teams and kids.

Uncle Bill also has a gift for hospitality, hosting many Waterloo Bucks and Black Hawks baseball and hockey players throughout the years. He enjoyed cooking for them and welcoming them into his home. He created many fond memories interacting with the players and teams, keeping in touch with some for years. He was always patient and kind, never grumbling or complaining. We appreciate that so much about you, Uncle Bill. We love you dearly.

Uncle Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mildred Abbas; brothers, Harlan and Calvin Abbas; and sisters-in-law, Marabelle and Dee. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth “Ken” Abbas; sisters-in-law, Carol and Darla; nieces and nephews, Shanlyn (Vince) Goodman and children, Andrew, Breanna and Caleb, Michelle (Ed) Niles and children, Naomi, Heather, Gabe Isaac and Michaela, Theresa (Matt) Feakes and children, Terrell, Zach and Logan, Troy Abbas, Glynna Borwig and children, Lauren, Devin, Kale, Carver and Daria, Mandy (Will) McCord and children, Sadie, Morgan, George and Charlotte, Cass (Jason) Peters and children, Olivia and Kal, Matthew (Colleen) Abbas and children, Teagan and Kallie, and Denielle (Bret) Badker and children, Haley and Jack.
