Paul Wendell Wagner, 83, of Waterloo, passed away on May 30, 2022, at MercyOne/Covenant Medical Center. He was born in Waterloo on June 22, 1938, son of William and Jessie (Burd) Wagner. Paul attended Waterloo West High School with the Class of 1956. On April 23, 1960, he was married to Barbara Mary Kemp in Cedar Falls. Paul owned and operated Paul Wagner & Son Trucking until his official "retirement" in 2021, however, he continued to work on a regular basis.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his children: Deborah Sue and Douglas Paul; brothers: Arland, Doug, Gordon and Gerald; and brother-in-law, Don Cox. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; children: Dale Wagner and Delores White both of Waterloo; 4 grandchildren: Jaron Wagner; Kristina (Scott) Buchan; Kelly White and Jason (Lauren) White; 9 great-grandchildren: Jaydon (Kayla) Bartz, Danica Sheridan, Dominick Buchan, Ethan Solsaa, Carter Buchan, Cale Buchan, Arianna Ramirez-White, Lane White and Saylor White: 1 great-great-grandson, Baby Bartz and his beloved canine companion, Buddy.
Paul's family will host a visitation from 1-3:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 4pm at their home of 1242 W Airline Hwy, Waterloo, Iowa. Private family burial will follow at a later time at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation and condolences can be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
Paul was a simple man who enjoyed classic Western movies and old country music. He was a NASCAR fan and was well read and versed about WWII. Paul's legacy is a close-knit, active, fun-loving brood who will follow family tradition with an epic water fight at home as they celebrate his life which was well lived.
