Harold Edwin Sorensen, 67, of Cedar Falls, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He was born in Cedar Falls on April 15, 1955, to Edwin and Beulah (Chrisman) Sorensen. Harold graduated from Hudson High School in 1973, then earned his B.S. from ISU in 1977. Julie Ann Witt caught his eye (and heart) at the 1988 Hudson Days and they married on June 30, 1990. Harold was a proud farmer, having planted the beloved home farm for the 53rd time this Spring.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Julie; 4 children: Benjamin (Beth Bellinger) Sorensen of Marshalltown, Jennifer (Jake) Weitzell of Reinbeck, Jodi (Isaac Wiltgen) Sorensen of Ridgeway, and Jessi (Derek Noteboom) Sorensen of Grundy Center; 2 grandchildren: Jamisen Donald and Jaxsen Harold Weitzell; his brother, Lawrence (Denise) Sorensen of Toddville; 3 sisters: Margaret (Warren) Torkelson of Mason City, Mary Sorensen of Rochester, MN, and Lois (Carl) Montgomery of Gladewater, TX.
Harold's Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church of Hudson with Visitation from 4-7:00 the evening prior at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery of Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hudson FFA Chapter or Zion Lutheran Church and condolences left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
Harold was proud to have served on the Hudson School Board; helping to pass the bond issue for the new high school and to have played a part in saving the ag program as well as the Hudson FFA Chapter. He loved driving his candy apple red "cool car" (Mach 1 Ford Mustang) that he bought brand new in 1973 when he went down to Iowa State University. His lifelong passion was agriculture, supporting the local Pork Producers and pork industry. Above all else, Harold was firm in his faith as a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and he loved his family deeply!
