Beverly Jean Voss-Hummel

Beverly J. Voss-Hummel, 89, of Cedar Falls, died peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Independence.

Beverly was born on June 7, 1937, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of David and Lois (Clemens) Cathcart. She graduated from Dike High School in 1954, and started her 45-year career in banking as a teller. She retired as branch manager for Wells Fargo. On October 21, 1956, Beverly married Richard Voss in Cedar Falls, and were married 24 years before Richard’s death on October 28, 1980. On June 21, 1996, Beverly married Jerry Hummel in Cedar Falls, and were married 27 years before Jerry died on December 31, 2023.

Beverly loved spending time in her garden, shopping and traveling, especially vacations with her family. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and never missed one of their events.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Kathy Miller (Jerry Ball) and Kelly Sagert; grandchildren, Amanda (Jordan) Backstrom, Megan (Jeremy) Horkan, Gage (Tori) Sagert and Reed (Alexis) Sagert; great-great grandchildren, Paisley and Logan Backstrom, and Bryce and Nolan Horkan; brother, Robert Cathcart; sister-in-law, Jean Cathcart; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first and second husband; siblings, Richard Cathcart and Betty (Chris) Voss; and sister-in-law, Shelby Cathcart.

Beverly’s funeral will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, October 8, 2026, with visitation an hour prior at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Her graveside service will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls, with a reception to follow back at the church Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
