William A. "Bill" Wittren, 52, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Norwalk, Iowa. He was born January 16, 1961 in Cedar Falls, the son of Richard A. and Betty (Morelock) Wittren. Bill married Karin M. Buehler in Arizona and they later divorced. He was a 1979 graduate of Cedar Falls High School, and a 1983 graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned his B.S. in Engineering. Bill was an electrical engineer for John Deere & Company for 12 years in the Des Moines area. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and sponsored children through Compassion International. Survivors include his son, Michael (Niki Spinner) Wittren of Overland Park, Kansas; his daughter, Laura (Brent Hassebrock) Wittren of Monterey, California; his father, Richard Wittren, of Cedar Falls; a brother, Karl (Cheryl) Wittren, of Waterloo; four sisters, Joan (Dean) Smith of Waterloo, Karen York of Sharon, Wisconsin, Karla Trower of Cedar Falls, and Cynthia (Tony) French of Finchford, Iowa; his girlfriend, Amy Papp, of Norwalk and a brother in law, Chris Nelson, of Cedar Falls. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, a sister, Rebecca Nelson and a nephew, Nicholas Trower. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
