William Rasmus "Bill" Thode, 70, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He was born December 24, 1937 in Cedar Falls, the son of Harry and Helen (Ackerman) Thode. Bill married Patricia Katz on August 26, 1961 in Cedar Falls. He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and worked for twenty-six years at John Deere & Company in Waterloo, retiring from the PEC in 1998. Bill also recently retired as the head of the Cedar Falls Cable Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Pat, of Cedar Falls; two sons, David (Emily) Thode and Thomas Thode, both of Cedar Falls; three granddaughters, Erin, Jane and Annie Thode, at home in Cedar Falls; and a brother, John (Sandy) Thode, of Cedar Falls.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 12:00 pm Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society in Waterloo.
