William "Bill" K. Wheelock, 76, of Cedar Falls, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
He was born in Cedar Falls on July 21, 1949, the son of Dencil and Marie (Smith) Wheelock. Bill was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1969-1971, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his return, he worked for Hinson's Manufacturing before starting a career with John Deere, retiring after 30 years. On November 17, 1972, Bill married Linda Schons in Cedar Falls and raised five children together.
Bill loved to fish, especially for crappie. He also enjoyed camping with Linda. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Wheelock; five children, Angela Wheelock, William (Amanda) Wheelock, Jr., Timothy Wheelock, Joshua (Kimberly) Wheelock, and Justin (Laura) Wheelock; four grandchildren, Keegan, Allie, Joey and Dylen Wheelock; five siblings, Larry (Sharon) Wheelock, Christa Schons, Daniel (Debbie) Wheelock, Starla (Bill) Leibold, and Joseph (Janet) Wheelock; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Judith (Harlan) Zook and Laura (Robert) Wireman.
Bill's celebration of life will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard at 5pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family. Please
