William H Hammer

William H. Hammer, 75, of Reinbeck, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, from Parkinson's with Lewy bodies dementia.  He was born August 5, 1934 in Cedar Falls, the son of Harold K. and Clara E. (Gardner) Hammer.  William married Bethel Morgensen on July 3, 1958 in Cedar Falls.  William served in the U.S. Army and was employed by Mid American Energy for thirty-three years.

Survivors include his wife, Bethel, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brian (Amy) Hammer of Centreville, Mississippi and Jon (Judy) Hammer of Hudson; two daughters, Carmen (James) Girdner of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer (Ron) Vose of Dike; fourteen grandchildren, and two sisters, Geraldine Smith of Chicago, Illinois and Marian Damm of Las Vegas, Nevada.

William was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Webber.

Private graveside services were Mon day, April 19, 2010, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls, where military rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.  Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation/Lewy bodies dementia.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
