William John Giesler, 98, of Finchford passed away at NewAldaya Lifescapes on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was born September 22, 1924, in Fichford, son of Carl and Amelia (Vossberg) Giesler. Bill attended Finchford School. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1943-February 1946. On November 30, 1947, Bill was married to Mary Bundy at the Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. He worked road maintenance for the Iowa DOT and drove truck until retiring in 1989.
Bill was preceded in death by parents; his wife, Mary, in 1999; and 2 grandchildren, William Michael Giesler and Tommy Lee Mast. He is survived by his children: John (Kathy) Giesler of Cedar Falls, Andy (Helen) Giesler of Cedar Falls, Janeva (Bob) Mast of Cedar Falls and Bobby (Nancy) Giesler of Waverly; 5 grandchildren: Pat (Mindy) Giesler, Andrew (Kari) Giesler, Mike (Jen) Giesler, Suzanne (Brian) Bedard and Chris Giesler; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Bill's Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with Visitation on Tuesday from 4-6:00 pm both at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Family and Condolences left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
Bill enjoyed gardening vegetables. He liked to go to Antique Acres and watch tractor pulls. Bill watched Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, rodeo and Nascar on television. He took great pride in having built his and Mary's home in Cedar Falls.
