WILLIAM T. "BILL" COLWELL, was born January 9, 1934 at Carroll, Iowa, the son of David and Hazel (Stockwell) Colwell. He married Marcia J. Long on November 2, 1952 at Mt. Morris, Illinois. Bill served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated the Colwell Connection in Waterloo, Iowa for 44 years and raised livestock for many years. Bill was a member of the Iowa Elk Breeders Association. He died Friday, September 21, 2001, at his home in rural Cedar Falls, at 67 years of age.
Bill is survived by his wife Marcia, of Cedar Falls; three sons, William D. Colwell (Nancy) of Hudson, Iowa, Pat Colwell (Marty) of Waterloo and Mike Colwell (Beth) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Blake Colwell, Amy Colwell, Ann Colwell, Shelby Colwell and Benjamin Colwell, and a sister, Audrey Wilkinson (Don) of Aurora, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Hanesford and a sister, Maxine Severns.
Memorial services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at Trinity Wesleyan Church in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Covenant Cancer Center.
