WILLIAM R. BURGESS, was born November 23, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William and Clara (Finnegan) Burgess. He married Helen Holtz on September 1, 1951 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1986. William served with the U.S. Army during WW II and was a television repairman for fifty years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Cedar Falls American Legion Post 237. William died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 82 years of age.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Burgess of Des Plaines, Illinois; his sister, Lucille Caraghar of Burbank, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Robert Burgess.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Dysart Cemetery in Dysart, Iowa. A memorial fund will be established.
