WILLARD J. MEIER was born December 16, 1913 at Waverly, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Kreger) Meier. He married Alice H. Schatzberg on July 25, 1936 at Waverly, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 1, 1991. From 1959-1976 Willard worked for Waterloo Industries in Waterloo, Iowa. He was also a farmer in Butler, Bremer and Black Hawk County, retiring in 1986. He died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly, at 89 years of age.
Willard is survived by two sons, Russell A. (Ilse) Meier of Copperas Cove, Texas and John M. (Jackie) Meier of Shell Rock, Iowa; a daughter, Joan M. Gunnel of Franklin, Tennessee; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; a son, Thomas Paul Meier and a sister, Rose Welter.
Funeral Mass was 11:00 Monday, December 30, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. A memorial fund will be established.
