Wilbur Arthur "Curly" Blanchard, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.  He was born September 22, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Charles Edward and Clara Christiana (Huck) Blanchard.  Curly married Anna "Anne" Lorraine Fowler on July 29, 1949 in Waterloo.  He honorably served in the U.S. Army 133rd Infantry, Red Bull 34th Division, Company D during WW II in both North Africa and Italy.  Curly worked for sixteen years at Construction Machinery in Waterloo and was a machinist at John Deere & Co. in Waterloo for twenty-three years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Blanchard, of Cedar Falls; a son, Craig (Debra) Blanchard, of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Joan Blanchard, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Erik (Ashley) Blanchard, Lucas (Danielle) Blanchard and Leah Blanchard, and Tiffany (Jason) White and Shelby Blanchard, and three great grandchildren, Kyler and Norah Blanchard, and Alivia White.

Curly was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Arthur Blanchard; four brothers, Edward, Leslie, Richard, and Vern Blanchard, and a sister, Lucille Meaker.

Services will be 11:00 am Friday, June 10, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.  Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.  Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Thursday, June 9, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church.   Memorials may be directed to the Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight or Nazareth Lutheran Church.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
