Wendell V. Smith, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Western Home Communities Stanard Assisted Living Center. He was born May 6, 1918 at Plainfield, Iowa, the son of Vern and Mattie (Cagley) Smith. Wendell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United Sates Army. Before his retirement he worked for Hinson Manufacturing.
He is survived by two sons; Stan (Mary) Smith of Cedar Falls and Dennis (Charlotte) Smith of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters, Paula (Jim) Grove of Grimes, Iowa and Linda Smith of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
