Wayne D Wollum

Wayne D. Wollum, 92, of Cedar Falls, died of natural causes on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.  He was born April 15, 1919 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Glen and Blanche (Edgington) Wollum.  Wayne married Laura Mae Naugle on June 8, 1946 in Sioux Falls.  She preceded him in death on April 6, 2009.  Wayne served in the US Marine Corps during WW II.  He owned and operated West End Grocery in Emmetsburg, Iowa for many years and was an auto parts salesman at AC Delco in Sioux Falls for many years, retiring in 1986.  Wayne was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Carmen) Wollum of Waterloo and Mike (Kay) Wollum of Emmetsburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Chad (Jane) Wollum of Lisbon, Iowa, Christy (Josh) Weber of Jesup, Iowa, Stephanie (Brandon) Ricke of La Porte City, Iowa, Joey Wollum of Anita, Iowa, Matt Wollum of Blair, Nebraska, Brett Wollum and Tiffany Wollum, both of Cedar Falls, and four great grandchildren, Gavin and Grayson Wollum, Faith Weber and Wyatt Ricke.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Gene Wollum.

Services will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 27, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Visitation will be 5—7:00 pm Sunday, and one hour before the service, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
