Wayne G. Jensen, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born September 7, 1920 in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the son of James and Clara (Priem) Jensen. Wayne married Eleanore Gravesen on December 31, 1953 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2001. Wayne was a graduate of St. Ansgar High School and a 1942 graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He attended the University of Notre Dame for US Navy Officers Training and commanded an LCT during the invasion of Europe at the Normandy front. Wayne also was Captain of LST 1051 in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. After the war, Wayne worked for Iowa Securities Corporation/Banco Mortgage for over thirty years. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Cedar Falls Historical Society and the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. Wayne was a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and Cedar Falls American Legion Post 237. He enjoyed cruises, fishing, and boating.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Jensen and Erick Jensen, both of Cedar Falls, and two grandchildren, Erin and Austin Jensen.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, June 6, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church, the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, or the American Red Cross.
