Wayne Fleshner

Wayne E. Fleshner, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at UnityPoint Health Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Wayne was born June 29, 1931, in rural Janesville, Iowa, the son of Howard & Kate (Reiners) Fleshner. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1951. Wayne married Doris Turner December 30, 1955, in Shell Rock, Iowa. He hauled poultry and eggs for Forrest Egg & Poultry, Moore Produce, Cedar Valley Produce and was part owner of Bo's Egg & Poultry. Wayne was also a machinist at John Deere & Company for 28 1/2 years, retiring in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Doris, of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Melinda (Jeff) Masters, of Nashua, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jordan (Kelsey), Nathaniel and Isaac Masters; and one sister, Ruth Geerdes, of Cedar Falls. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eugene Fleshner; his brother, Robert Fleshner; and his brother-in-law, Vernon Geerdes. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at New Hartford United Methodist Church with inurnment at a later date at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to service time Saturday, both at the church. A memorial fund will be established. Wayne was an avid sports fan, enjoying motorcycling, bicycling, snowmobiling, attending horse shows and wrestling meets, but he especially enjoyed attending his Grandsons' events.
