Warren P. Truesdell, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born July 12, 1938 in Algona, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Rosina (Shursen) Truesdell. After graduating from Titonka High School in 1957, he attended vocational school and then worked as a linotype operator in the newspaper and publishing business in Hayfield and Austin, Minnesota, and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He moved to Cedar Falls in 1972 and worked at several businesses in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area. He last worked at the Red Lobster Restaurant in Cedar Falls. Warren enjoyed teasing the wonderful staff at the Windsor Nursing Home, who provided exceptional care for him the last four years of his life.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary K Christian, Sac City, IA and Rebecca (Garry) Davies, Anchorage, AK. He is also survived by nieces, Linda (Mark) Carlson, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Barb (Mick) Shonsey, Michael, Myles and Meg, Omaha, NE; nephews, Charles (Carolyn) Christian, Ankeny, IA and Tom (Holly) Christian, Shelby and Jordan Ortmeier, Lake Crystal, MN and Brent Ortmeier, Nashville, TN. He is also survived by good friend and mentor William Hartley, several cousins, and many friends in both Minnesota and Iowa.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wilmer Christian.
Services will be 2:15 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center, 2305 Crescent Dr., Cedar Falls, with burial at Ottosen, Iowa at a later date.
