Warren G. Meewes, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center in Waterloo.  He was born March 4, 1921 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Storjahann) Meewes.  Warren married Betty Marten on May 29, 1947 in Reinbeck.  He was a 1938 graduate of Reinbeck High School and served in the United States Navy during WW II, honorably discharged after seven years of service.  Warren was employed for thirty-five years at the John Deere PEC, retiring in 1982.  He was a lifetime member of the Reinbeck American Legion and was a member of both the Waterloo Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Warren enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer.  He and Betty enjoyed their retirement years wintering in New Braunfels, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Meewes, of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Karilyn Wood, of Waterloo; his son, Richard (Michele) Meewes, of Anthem, Arizona; four grandchildren, David and Paul Wood, Michael and Nicole Meewes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Leo, Russell, Clarence and Dale Meewes, and five sisters, Mildred Rudy, Edna Gruis, Marian Squires, Esther Lauterbach and Margaret Davis.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Monday, February 8, 2010, at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with inurnment at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Memorials may be directed to the church or Care Initiatives Hospice, 310 Upland Dr., Waterloo, IA 50701.
