Warren C. Bown, 91, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born in Waterloo on December 21, 1933, the son of Roger and Idamaye (Ingols) Bown, and graduated from Reinbeck High School. Warren married Violet "Vi" Dickson on September 17, 1954 in Waterloo, and have shared 71 happily married years together.
Although he worked for John Deere as a machinist for over 30 years, Warren was a farmer at heart. He loved to serve and found joy working on the farm helping others with various projects and fieldwork. Warren enjoyed woodworking and tinkering, and was an avid collector of John Deere memorabilia. He also loved squirrels and would feed them every day. He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.
Warren is survived by his wife, Violet "Vi" Bown; two children, Cathy (Larry) Klein and Daniel (Michaelle) Bown; six grandchildren, Matthew Klein (Carrie Iverson), Maggie Klein, Emily Klein, Cory (Desi) Bown, Sam (Nicole) Bown, and Lauren Bown (Seth Diehl); six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Bown. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Bown; brothers, Eugene, Don and Richard Bown; and sister, Mary Ann Hempen.
Warren's visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, November 17, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. His funeral will be at 11am, Tuesday, November 18 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with visitation an hour prior. A livestream of the funeral service will also be available through the church and funeral home websites. Graveside services are scheduled at Lincoln Township Cemetery (8421 W. Eagle Rd, Hudson) at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to
