Warren J. Berhends

Warren Berhends, 84, of Traer, Iowa, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born December 10, 1931, the son of Claus and Etta (Brower) Behrends in Grundy Center, Iowa. He married Glorianne Rabenberg in 1954 and she preceded him death in 1994. He married Tena Klunder in 1995 and she preceded him in death December 27, 2015. Warren was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Army. He worked for the street department in Waterloo for 15 years and then worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for eighteen years, retiring in 1993. Warren was a Master Mason and was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 340 in Traer.

He is survived by two sons, Jay (Karla) Berhends, of Waterloo and Baron Berhends, of Garwin, Iowa; one step daughter, Verna (Kevin) Adelmund, of Waterloo and one step son, Virgil Klunder, of Tennessee; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, two brothers, Claus and Marlin Berhends, and two sisters, Grace Bleeker and Margaret Gifford.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2015 at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be presented by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 at the cemetery.
