Walter James "Jim" Sankey, 56, of Cedar Falls, died of cancer on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born July 17, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Walter Joseph and Pauline (Appleby) Sankey. Jim married Kathy Griffin on January 19, 1984 in Cedar Rapids. Jim was a carpenter most of his life, owned and operated Sankey's Aluminum Seamless Gutters, and for the past several years worked for PMI Janitorial Services.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Amy Kuper of Monticello, Iowa and Jamie (Michael) Sweerin of Ionia, Iowa; two sons, Josh (Nicole) Griffin and James Sankey, both of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Tyler and Brayden Kuper, Cody and Chase Griffin, Tanner Daniels and Alee Sweerin; and three sisters, Paula (Allen) Kiecksee of Marion, Iowa, Pam Payton of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary (Mike) Baker of Vancouver, Washington. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday, October 27, 2008, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 2—5:00 pm Sunday, October 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
