W. ALVIN "AL"
KROEMER, 79, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Friday, September 17, 2004, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center. Al was born January 9, 1925 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of William and Lulu Rhea (Dumond) Kroemer. He married Ferne Jones on November 25, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on August 9, 1988. Al was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during WW II. He worked for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier for 46 years, retiring in 1988, and was a member of the Cedar Falls Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff Kroemer of Texas and Tony Kroemer of Reno, Nevada; a daughter, Sherrine Kroemer of Denver, Colorado; a grandson, Kyle Kroemer; two brothers, Carl Kroemer of Waterloo, Iowa and Maynard Kroemer of Denver, Iowa; his close friend, Marge Speicher of Waterloo, and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his wife and parents; two brothers, John and William Kroemer, and four sisters, Minnie Henningson, Anna Lindberg, Elsa Boelsche and Verna Krage.
Memorial services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church, with private committal services at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or Meals On Wheels.
