W. EDWARD "EDDIE" DYER was born July 21, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of John A. and Anna Belle (Coyle) Dyer. He was a 1938 graduate of East Waterloo High School and served with the U. S. Army at Okinawa in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. Ed was a union carpenter and lifetime member of Union Hall 1835 for 67 years. He died Monday, September 10, 2001, at his home in Cedar Falls, at 81 years of age.
Ed is survived by his son, James E. Dyer and his two daughters, Ann M. Irvine and her husband Richard of St. Paul Park, Minnesota and Kim R. Hurlbut and her husband Robert of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Hurlbut, and a sister, Winona Marvitz of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Bernice, Alice and Patricia, and a brother, David.
Graveside committal services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2001, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
