MEMORIALS: St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Hudson, Iowa VIVIAN A. PATTERSON, 90, of Hudson, Iowa, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. She was born July 17, 1916 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lettie (Smith) Gutknecht. Vivian married Charles Anderson on March 8, 1935, and they later divorced. She married Howard Patterson on March 29, 1941 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1991. Vivian worked for Hudson Mutual Telephone Company for nine years and was a charter member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hudson.Survivors include seven grandchildren, James Patterson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Scott (Barbara) Patterson of Denmark, Wisconsin, Yvonna (Jerry) Hoskins of Independence, Iowa, Cathleen Taylor of Elkader, Iowa, Elizabeth Patterson of Watertown, Wisconsin, and SueAnn (Edward) Kepper and Nicole Patterson, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; twenty-three great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; a brother, John (Mildred) Gutknecht, of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Penelope Patterson, of Twin Rivers, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Oris Duncan of Mitchell, Nebraska and Elda Mae Shuck of Spearfish, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son, Ronald Patterson; a daughter, Charlene (Harold) Byers; a grandson and great granddaughter; three brothers, Lester, Donald and Kenneth Gutknecht; and two sisters, Luceba Gingrich and Verla Haar.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hudson, with interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hudson. Visitation will be 3—7:00 pm Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church.
