VIRGINIA FRANCES RIKER, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, September 9, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. She was born February 26, 1916 in La Junta, Colorado, the daughter of Jefferson Pierce and Frances Syvinta (Lay) Bell. Virginia married Harvey Clarkson Riker on July 6, 1934 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1995. Virginia was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Falls. Virginia also belonged to the church bible study, The Farther Lights Missionary Society and was involved in child evangelism through her church. Survivors include her son, Jerry (Jo) Riker, of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Judith Riker, of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Trudy Riker, of Portage, Michigan; four grandchildren, Michele (Dan) Semon, Christopher (Heidi) Riker, Jeffrey (Stella) Riker and Daniel (Tamela) Riker; two step-grandchildren, Patrick (Gwyn) Poock and Bradley Poock; ten great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anna Bell; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Susan Bolger. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sons, Charles and a son in infancy; four brothers, Wayne, Elijah, Everett and George Bell; and a sister, Peggy Avery.

Funeral services were 10:00 am Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family.
