Virginia Howard, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. She was born September 14, 1926 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Hiram and Helena (Lewke) Van Heuvelen. Virginia graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1944 and went to Washington D.C. to work as a secretary for the Dept. of the Navy. After WW II, she returned to Cedar Falls and worked as a secretary for ISTC, Viking Pump Company and area insurance agencies, until her retirement in 1991. She married Fred S. Howard November 14, 1945 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death November 14, 1984. She is survived by three sons, Alan D. (Mary) Howard of Cedar Falls, Bruce E. (Bobbie) Howard of Guam, and David S. (Deb) Howard of Mt Pleasant, Iowa, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before services.
