VIRGINIA N. BERCHER, was born December 31, 1916 in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter or Elmer and Irma (Holst) Powell. She married William Bercher on July 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1987. Virginia was a 1938 graduate of the University of Illinois and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She taught elementary school and worked at an office in Chicago, Illinois. Virginia died Monday, July 5, 1999, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 82 years of age.
She is survived by her son, David W. Bercher of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her three grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin and Michaela Bercher; and her sister-in-law, Helen Cox of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 1999 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.
