Violet D. Moorman

Violet "Vi" D. Moorman, 88, of Boone, Iowa and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at Westhaven Care Facility in Boone. Vi was born March 28, 1924 in West Union, Iowa, the daughter of John & Dorothea (Lauer) Schatz. She married George F. Moorman January 4, 1947 in Eldorado, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 22, 1971. Vi received her B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa, taught school at St. Patrick Catholic School and also at River Hills, retiring in 1986. Survivors include two sons, Terry (Marsha) Moorman of Boone and Larry (Darla) Moorman of North Liberty, Iowa; six grandchildren, Corey (Mollie) Moorman of Boone, Travis (Nakisha) Moorman of Aurora, Colorado, Ryan (Melissa) Moorman of Boone, Andrew Moorman of Aurora, Sarah (Jeremy) Wright, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Lisa (Kim Stainbrook) Moorman of Cedar Rapids; and seven great grandchildren. Vi was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters, Maurgerite Hyman and Marion Helgerson; and her brother, Herbert Schatz. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church.
