VIOLA K. M. STRICKER was born March 15, 1913 in Benton County, Iowa, the daughter of Willie and Metha (Christensen) Jurgens. She married Claus H. Stricker on February 25, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1975. Viola and Claus operated the Mapelton, Iowa airport for fifteen years and were the owners of Stricker Air Service in South Sioux City, Nebraska for five years. Viola was a member of the OX5 Aviation Pioneers. She died Sunday, April 21, 2002 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at 89 years of age. Viola is survived by her son, Claus W. Stricker and his wife Marlene of Blue Eye, Missouri; four grandchildren, Claus W. Stricker, Jr., Kim M. Timson, David J. Stricker and Daniel J. Stricker; eight great-grandchildren and five sisters, Virginia Abernathy of Traer, Iowa, Isabel Schuck of Desert Hot Springs, California, and Dorothy Morrison, Caroline Rock and Mildred Fisher, all of La Porte City, Iowa.  She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and a sister, Mabel Rauser.

Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002, at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City, Iowa, with burial at Dysart Cemetery in Dysart, Iowa.  A memorial fund will be established.
