VINCENZO "ENZO" DELISO,
87, of Bickford Cottage and formerly of Mallard Point Retirement Residence and Deerfield, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at his home at Bickford Cottage. Enzo was born February 13, 1919 in Mola di Bari, Italy, the son of Vitantonio and Rosa (Carmelo) DeLiso. He was a submariner in the Italian Navy during WW II. During the war he met Gemma Fazzini in her hometown of Vezzano Ligure, and they married on August 26, 1943. To their marriage a daughter was born, Caroline. In 1956 the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Highland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where Enzo was a chef with ARA Business Dining Services for over thirty years. On December 19, 1998, his wife of fifty-five years, Luigia, died while visiting their daughter and her family in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After a short period of tim, Enzo decided to stay in Cedar Falls to be with his family. He later moved to Mallard Point Retirement Residence and then to Bickford Cottage, both in Cedar Falls.
Survivors include his daughter, Caroline (Jim) Gosnell, of Cedar Falls; a grandson, Erik (Vicki) Gosnell, of Cedar Falls, and a granddaughter, Amy Gosnell of Lone Tree, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trenton and Niko Gosnell of Lone Tree, and Dominick Gosnell of Cedar Falls, and a sister, Angela Bellantuono, of Highland Park, Illinois.
Enzo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters, Flora Nardomarino and Isabella DeLiso.
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice.
