Vicki Ann Cox, 71, Cedar Falls, died August 10, 2023 at her home. She was born June 10, 1952 in Fort Dodge to the late Norman and Lois (Lowe) Panzi. Following her graduation from Central Webster High School she attended and graduated from UNI. Over the years, she worked for the UNI Foundation and the University Bookstore. Vicki married Arthur Cox in Cedar Falls on October 23, 1999.
Vicki is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 24 years, Art; daughters, Emily (Anthony) Young of Waterloo, IA, Megan (Robert) Lesko of Carolina Beach, NC, Sarah Cox of Des Moines, IA, Sibyl Collver of Cimarron, NM, and Stephanie Cox of Norwalk, IA; two grandchildren Riley and Adler; sisters, Lea Chaplin, Joni Davis and Shelli Minor; and extended family and friends.
Vicki was active in sports much of her life, playing basketball and softball in high school and continued to play softball competitively into her 40's. She was an avid biker for many years and rode RAGBRAI multiple times. She enjoyed camping, travel, tennis, birdwatching and gardening. One of her favorite weekend trips was to Des Moines to visit the Blank Park Zoo. She was a long-time adoptive parent of the poison dart frogs, her favorite animal at the zoo. She traveled extensively with Art and enjoyed visiting her family that lives outside of Cedar Falls. She cherished time with her family and relaxing sunsets on the patio with Art. Her smile was infectious and the sparkle in her eyes melted Art's heart.
The celebration of Vicki's life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19 at the chapel at NewAldaya Lifescapes at 7511 University Avenue in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family which will be sent to Blank Park Zoo or sent directly to the zoo at Blank Park Zoo Foundation, 7401 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50315. Online donations may be made at https://www.blankparkzoo.com/support-the-zoo/give-to-the-zoo .
