Violet "Vi" Abrahamson, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born March 31, 1932 in Lindstrom, Minnesota, the daughter of Albin and Vivian (Nelson) Nicklason. She graduated from Lindstrom-Center City High School in 1950, graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and went to work at Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Co. in Minneapolis. Vi married Ronald Abrahamson on October 9, 1954 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Minnesota.
Before retirement she was employed part time with Van Wyangarden and Abrahamson.
Vi was a devoted and beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She deeply loved her family, embraced life, lived each day to the fullest and was thankful to God. Vi spread joy to all who knew her with her kind words, incredible spirit, strong faith and radiant smile. She was an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she served as a deacon, sang in the choir, participated in circle and prayer shawl ministry. She loved music, playing tennis and bridge, skiing and traveling with family and friends. Vi enjoyed vacationing with friends on Sanibel Island, Florida and playing tennis, walking along the beach picking up seashells and watching the beautiful sunsets. Survivors include her husband, Ron Abrahamson, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sharon (Clint) Kyhl, of Wenatchee, Washington; Carol (Perry) Bolin, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and one son David (Pam) Abrahamson, of Johns Creek, Georgia; five grandchildren, Erin, Adam and Josh Abrahamson, and Keith and Craig Kyhl.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
