VERNON E. NELSON,
98, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born June 28, 1907 at Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Henrik and Christine (Jensen) Nielsen. Vernon married Josephine Perham on November 29, 1933 at Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1993. Vernon was the payroll supervisor for 39 years at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 1969.
Survivors include his twelve nieces and three nephews, which include Berdena Beach, Richard Hilton, Albert Nelson and Muriel Stephens, all of Cedar Falls, Mildred Reuter and Arlyne Lockard, both of Waterloo, and Dorothy Sass of Washburn, Iowa.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and wife; three brothers, Albert, Thorvald and Roland Nelson; and five sisters, Anna Jorgensen, Helga Davis, Clara Hilton, Esther Watkins and Marie Hansen.
Funeral services were Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, or the charity of the donor's choice.
