VERNA BROWN, 80, of Waterloo died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at her home. Verna was born September 24, 1925 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Frank & Flora (Sprague) Rogers. She married Kenneth Rekers in 1943 and they were later divorced. She married Lowell Brown in 1964 and they were later divorced. Verna was the founder of Browns Gardens on highway 63 north of Waterloo.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Rekers of Waterloo and Lowell (Bridget) Brown of Waterloo; three daughters, Karen Rekers of Waterloo, Karla (Jim) Ostby of Cedar Falls and Cindy (Larry) Bunz of Dysart, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother, Myron Rogers of Mount Auburn, Iowa, and two sisters, Bonnie Rogers and Ramona Rogers, both of Cedar Falls. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frank, Walt, Mel and Ken Rogers; and two sisters, Viola Thompson and Mabel Dix.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund will be established.
