VERA MEREE LONGNECKER was born January 9, 1909 in Ankeny, Iowa, the daughter of John S. and Carrie A. (Crawley) Wright. She married George C. Longnecker June 7, 1931 in Newton, Iowa. Meree and George owned and operated Olympia Candy Kitchen in Cedar Falls. She was also employed at Clay Equipment as a secretary from 1949 until her retirement in 1972. Meree died Monday, November 29, 1999, at the Western Home-Martin Center 1, at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include her son John and his wife, Sharon, Cedar Falls, Iowa, six grandchildren and their families;John Curtis & Debbie Longnecker, Shantel, Amanda, Troy, James Clifford & Cheri Longnecker, Taylor, Jared, Cassandra, Michael, Joel Adam Longnecker, Aaron, Rachel, Joshua Alan Longnecker, Abby, Ryan, Eric, Sarah Louise & Tim Williams, John, Everett, David, Matthew, and Jeremiah Nolan & Allison Longnecker, Brayden and her sister, Judy Duffey and her husband, Roy, of Lynn Creek, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 1999, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour preceding service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church or the Western Home.
