VELMA M. (TIMMER) LUTZ,
79, of Apache Junction, Arizona and Ankeny, and formerly of Vinton-Shellsburg, Iowa, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, at her daughter's home in Ankeny. She was born July 9, 1925 in Iowa, the daughter of Jens Peter and Maria T. (Tonnesen) Holm. Velma married Paul Fred Timmer at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. He preceded her in death in 1965. She married Everett R. Lutz in 1969 at Waterloo, and he died in 1997. Velma owned and operated a beauty salon in her home in Waterloo for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Ann Timmer, of Ankeny and six grandsons, Scott Vogt of Iowa City, Kevin Vogt of Ankeny, Aaron and Christian Timmer, both of Cedar Falls, and Raymond and Michel Timmer, both of La Porte City.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands; two sons, Ray and Kenneth Timmer, and a brother, Svend Peter Holm.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Interment will be at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice, Des Moines, Iowa.
