VEDA LYDIA CHRISTIE,
96, of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at her home in Omaha.
She was born February 20, 1908 in South Dakota the daughter of Anthony & Catharine (Yegge) Huckert. She married Willard Brouilette and they were later divorced. Frank E. Christie and Veda were married February 3, 1958 in Waverly, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1984. Veda was an LPN who cared for the elderly at nursing homes in Cedar Falls and also in Florida.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Giovanna Miller-Brouilette of Omaha, Nebraska, with whom she made her home; three granddaughters, Catharine Brouilette of Alabama, Manetta Holden of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sheri Swanson of Blair, Nebraska; one grandson, John Miller of Waterloo; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Ula Manning of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, John Brouilette.
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004 at Cedar Bible Church, Fern and Green Ave, Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour preceding service time at the church on Friday.
