TOMMA LOU MAAS, was born February 1, 1944 in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of Tommy Louie and Mary Mae (Sherwood) Jordan. She married Randy Maas on March 16, 1968 in Solon, Iowa. Tomma Lou received her B.A. degree from the Univ. of Iowa and her Masters Degree from the Univ. of Northern Iowa. She worked for the Iowa Dept. of Transportation for 11 years, was the editor of the "Toy Collectors Newsletter" for Ertl Toy Co. in Dyersville, Iowa and was an Adjunct Instructor with the Univ. of Northern Iowa, Upper Iowa Univ., Wartburg College and Hawkeye Community College. Tomma Lou was a private tutor and was a free-lance writer for the "Toy Farmer" and "Toy Trucker" publications. She also enjoyed poetry and photography. Tomma Lou was a member of the National Organization of Pen Women and a lifetime member of the Nature Conservancy, the Univ. of Iowa Alumni Assoc. and the Univ. of Northern Iowa Alumni Assoc. She died Monday, July 1, 2002, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, at 58 years of age. Tomma Lou is survived by her husband, Randy, of Cedar Falls; her parents, Tommy and Mary Mae Jordan, of Knoxville, Iowa; a brother, Daniel Jordan, of rural Pleasantville, Iowa and a sister, Dr. Rosalie Ackerman, of Akron, Ohio. Memorial services were 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls.  Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg, Iowa later in the day.  Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, 2001 Kimball Ave.,  Waterloo, Iowa  50702.
