Timothy Wayne Wise, 66, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 31, 2024. He fought a courageous battle against ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease) for over two years. Tim's faith in Christ gave him strength and grace to face the debilitating disease; he knew that while his body was failing, his spirit will live in eternity.
Tim was born in Waterloo on September 8, 1958, son of Keith and Doris (West) Wise. He graduated from Waterloo West High School with the Class of 1976, then attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology. On July 19, 1980, Tim married Mary Beth Kinzebach at First Church of the Open Bible. Tim worked as a driver for UPS for 34 years before retiring in 2020.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Delmar and Edna (Beach) Kinzebach. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; daughter, Lindsay Wise; son, Brandon Wise; 2 grandchildren, Haley and Liam Wise; a brother, Bill (Rhonda) Wise; sister, Janice Raylene (Mark) Simons; brothers-in-law: Wayne (Diane) Kinzebach, Rick (Diane) Kinzebach, and Dennis Kinzebach; a sister-in-law, Amy (Kevin) Juel; and many beloved friends and extended family members.
Tim's family will host a Memorial Visitation from 2-4:00 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
In the spirit of Tim's love for comfortable clothes, his family encourages the attire you feel best wearing.
If you played softball with Tim, you can even wear your team shirt! Burial will be at Garden of Memories cemetery at a later time. Memorials may be directed to
The ALS Association
or
Team Gleason
, both of which helped Tim generously during his fight against ALS.
Tim will be remembered for his zest for life and his dedication to his family, friends, and neighbors. Tim showed love with acts of service, including volunteering with the youth and young kids at church, shoveling and mowing for neighbors, and helping his kids with various house and yard projects. His love of PB & J, M&Ms, slow-pitch softball, bags (cornhole), table tennis (ping-pong), handstands, juggling, trivia, and dad jokes will not be forgotten. Tim loved a good underdog story and watching the Little League World Series. He had a soft spot for dogs, and made friends with his customers and their dogs on his UPS routes. Most importantly, Tim loved his family deeply and was an amazing husband, dad, and papa.
