Thomas C. Schrage, 95, of New Hartford, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born July 24, 1919 in Sinclair, Iowa, the son of Charles and Hattie (Schneiderman) Schrage. Thomas married Margaret Stickney on August 30, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He graduated from Parkersburg High School and farmed in Butler County for many years. Thomas also raised and sold German Shepherd dogs which were sent to many areas of the world. He loved playing pool and attended the Waverly Sale Barn every Tuesday. Survivors include his son, Jim (Kris) Schrage, of New Hartford; two granddaughters, Sara (Mark) Fails of New Hartford and Laura (Kyle) Payton of Dike, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Taylor and Madison Hedges and Izzie and Macie Margaret Payton. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a daughter, Linda Schrage; three brothers, Ernest, Hank and Bob Schrage, and five sisters, Mabel DeVries, Lenora Welch, Norma Froemming, Fayette Meyers and Charlotte Neessen. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2014, at New Hartford United Methodist Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in New Hartford. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and one hour before service at the church on Monday.
