Thelma E. Crees

Thelma Elizabeth Schuchart Crees, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. Thelma was born March 26, 1917 in Dysart, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph & Katherine (Seebach) Schuchart. She married Charles E. Crees December 24, 1937 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death November 17, 1994. Thelma graduated from Dysart High School and Gates Business College. She was a Supervisor in the Payroll Department at John Deere & Company for many years. Thelma was a member of American Business Womens Association, National Secretaries Association and Sigma Beta Phi. She will always be remembered as the greatest mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her many years of employment at John Deere gave her great satisfaction. Survivors include two daughters, Sandi (Mike) Galer, of Waterloo and Sue McBroom, of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Brian (Jodi) Barron, Becki (Mark) Ramsey, Brad (Caron) Barron, Shannon Galer, Derek (Kursten) McBroom, Tory (Georgia) McBroom, and Stacie (Brad) Ramundt; sixteen great grandchildren, and one sister in law, Violetta Schuchart, of Traer. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and infant son, Charles; her son-in-law, Gary McBroom; and two brothers, Myron Schuchart and Curtis Schuchart in infancy. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, with inurnment in Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or Western Home Communities.
