Terry Olin

Terry B. Olin, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.   He was born March 3, 1913 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the son of Terry and Mae (Jump) Olin. Terry married Helga Falkenberg on October 29, 1938 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death March 15, 2006. He received his B A from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and was Vice President of Foundries at Viking Pump Company from 1945 to 1970. In 1970 Terry started  working in sales for Lavin & Sons Steel, retiring in 1983. Terry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

He is survived by one daughter, Jan McMullen, of Kansas City, Missouri; one son-in-law, Vern Luhring, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Jacobsen, Jayne (Aaron) Spear,  Amy Strathman, Dr. Timothy (Michelle) McMullen and Terri (Ben) Unterreiner;  seven great grandchildren, Madison, Kendall and Davis, Olivia and Noelle, Zach and Tate, and two sisters, Caryol Skog of Fairfield, California and Dorothy Pauley of Madelia, Minnesota.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barb Luhring, one son-in-law, Dr. Richard McMullen; three brothers, Ben, George, and Malcom Olin, and two sisters, Bonnie Schwartz and Mae Todd.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before services on Thursday. Memorials  may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home or to the Cedar Falls Bible Conference.
