Sylvia Graves

Sylvia M. Graves, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Windsor Nursing Home in Cedar Falls. Sylvia was born October 12, 1927 in Inwood, Iowa, the daughter of Eli and Lettie (Salveson) Olson. She married Alan Hersleff March 4, 1949 and he preceded her in death. She later married Billy Z. Graves December 26, 1975 at Graettinger, Iowa. She was a 1945 graduate of Inwood High School and worked at Berkley Company as a Quality Control Manager for some years. She loved her Lord and church, singing in the church choir and the Metropolitan Choral. She loved being a homemaker, her family and her dog, Cricket. Sylvia is survived by her husband, Bill Graves, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Kim Hersleff of Houston, Texas, and Perry (Elin) Hersleff of Forest City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Hazel Hanson of Osage, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Alan Hersleff; one daughter, Cynthia James; two sons, Todd Hersleff and Kirby Hersleff; one granddaughter, Darci Hersleff; one brother, Quentin Olson, and one sister, Opal Hage. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with burial at a later date in St. Paul's of South Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger.
