Steven Siegel-Slykhuis

Steven John Siegel-Slykhuis, 42, of Glen Cove, New York, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York.  He was born January 9, 1975 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Jacqueline (Manlove) Slykhuis.  Steve married Ian Siegel in Manhattan, New York in 2012.  He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Apparel and Textiles.  Steve was the former Operations Director for Solid & Striped in New York City.

He is survived by his husband, Ian Siegel-Slykhuis, of Glen Cove, New York; his brother, Capt. Matt (JoHanna) Slykhuis, of Iowa City, Iowa; four nieces and nephews, Joella, Asher, Aiken, and Jesse Slykhuis; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his French Bulldog, Jean Luc.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
