Steven C Goodwin

Steven Cory Goodwin was born on October 15, 1963 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended Southdale, Peet  Jr. High and graduated from Cedar Fall High School in 1982. Steve graduated from UNI with two majors, Political Science and Criminology. He worked twenty years as a Probation Officer at Rock Island County's probation department where he supervised other probation officers. Steve was quoted in a newspaper article, "You put in a lot of effort, a lot of time and, when it doesn't work, sure it's frustrating. The main thing is for them to be honest about everything." He was married to Cheryl Hanes and has a daughter Gillian, who he loved very much right to the last.

All his life Steve was always active in sports and he coached girls little league and assisted coaching girls softball in the Rock Springs school system. He really was active in any sport activity that his daughter Gillian competed in all through her school years. Steve loved to fish in Bass Tournaments and hunted with his dog, Sammy. They were quite a hunting pair.

Steve will be missed so very much by his Mom and Dad, Sandra and Gerald Goodwin, ex-wife and daughter, Cheryl and Gillian Goodwin; his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Pete Steinhauer, nieces and nephew, Jessie, Alex, Natalie Steinhauer and grandmother, Bernice Hoskins; Aunts and Uncles Joyce and Evan Wilson Family, Darlys and Chuck Finders family, and Aunt Sherry Burns and her family. There are numerous cousins who will miss him.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at First Christian Church, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be  9:00 a.m. to service time at the church Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
