Steven Michael Decker, loving husband and father of three, was born March 27, 1954, in Tracy, Minnesota. He grew up in Iowa and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1972. In 1992, he received his Associate's Degree as a Business Computer Specialist from AIC. On September 10, 1976, Steven married his sweetheart, Becky Naber, at the Women's Club House in Cedar Falls. Forty years later, their son had the honor of officiating the renewal of their vows at the very same place, surrounded by family and close friends.

Steven passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday, August 18, 2025, with his family by his side. The greatest blessings of his life were his three sons and five beloved grandsons. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Becky; sons, Jeremy (Stephanie) of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Joel (Brittney) of Hutchinson, MN and Jamie (Tina) of Janesville; grandsons: Kyle Brady, Kellan, Jamison and Steven along with three step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff (Pam) Decker of Monroe, LA; and his aunt, Judy Glass of Elk River, MN. Steven was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Harned; brothers-in-law, Rick Harned and Dennis Naber; nephew, Kyle Naber; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sylvan and Pat Naber, who lovingly embraced him as a son; and his adoptive father, Donald Decker.

Steve's devotion to his family was evident throughout his life. While working full time and pursuing higher education, he still found joy in coaching his sons' little league teams for many years. Later, he loved nothing more than teaching his grandsons fishing tricks and techniques, always striving with them to catch the "big one". Steve also loved gospel quartet music, often listening on drives down to the farms which brought him great joy and peace. His faith was central to his life. Cherished friendships were formed within his church family at Finchford Community Bible Church, who provided constant prayers and support throughout his final earthly journey.

Though our hearts ache as we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father and friend, we find peace in knowing that at that moment, through John 3:16, Jesus took his hand and welcomed Steve home.

Steve's family will host a Visitation from 4-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
