Stephen H. Kreitz, 32, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, October 7, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, following a lengthy battle with sarcoma cancer. Stephen was born February 15, 1975 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of William & Jill (Hauser) Kreitz. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1994 and attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He married Jennifer Gray June 29, 2002 in Cedar Falls. Stephen worked in food service, moving to Cedar Falls in 1999, where he was a manager at Famous Dave's and then at Panera Bread, and worked most recently as catering manager at Gary's Restaurant & Catering in Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Cedar Falls, his two daughters, Ella & Amelia at home; his father and stepmother, William & Suzy Kreitz of Polo, Missouri; his mother and step father, Jill & John Helm of Smithville, Missouri; step grandparents, John & Evelyn Helm of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, David Kreitz of San Francisco, California; one stepbrother, John (Connie) Helm of Smithville, Missouri; and two stepsisters, Cathy Dray of Smithville, Missouri and Misty Nickel of Kansas City, Missouri.

Stephen was preceded in death by his son, William Kreitz, II and his grandparents.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church, with inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
