Sid Hansen

Sid Hansen, 73, of Parkersburg, Iowa died Friday, January 20, 2017 at his home. He was born April 2, 1943 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Sidney Degn & Ellen (Halterman) Hansen. Sid married Raynell Powers and they later divorced. He married Kat Ballou October 27, 1979 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sid served in the U. S. Air Force and was employed as a machinist at John Deere & Company for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Kat Hansen of Parkersburg; two sons, Sidney M. (Bobbi McMahon) Hansen of Waterloo and Degn Hansen of Oklahoma; two daughters, Chyrl (Greg) Gipson and Michele (Craig Bates) Hansen, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Rod Ballou and Dave Oshita; eight grandchildren, Jessyca, Nikki, Samantha, Dazia Suex, Billy, Jeffrey, Bradley and Amanda; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Hansen of Cannon Falls, Minnesota and Stuart (Lisa) Hansen of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Janine Hansen of Waterloo and Juli Willey of Cedar Rapids.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with Military Honors by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service time Thursday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be directed to the family.
