Shirley Remmen

Shirley Remmen, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at NewAldaya Lifescapes. She was born March 5, 1930 in Zeeland, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred C. and Martha (Graf) Maier. Shirley married Chester Remmen on December 31, 1948 in Webster, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2015. Shirley was a homemaker and lived in 100+ towns in eight years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Linda Ferguson of Iowa City, Iowa and Janet Cady of Eagan, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Amy (Reid) Carrick of Madison, Wisconsin and Matthew Cady of Eagan; a great granddaughter, Harper Carrick, of Madison; her brother, Don (Dolores) Maier, of Lacrosse, Washington; her sister, Lucille Young, of Colfax, Washington, and her former son-in-law, Thomas Ferguson, of Chicago, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three brothers, Fred, Clarence and Wesley Maier, and her son-in-law, Craig Cady.

Visitation will be 2—3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Inurnment service will be at a later date at Ft.
